On February 4th at 0911hrs, the Lewes Fire Department was dispatched to a reported car fire in the area of 16592 Coastal Highway. Upon arriving on scene, the ambulance advised there was a fire in the engine compartment. The ambulance crew then proceeded to extinguish the fire with portable extinguishers on hand. 82-8 with Assistant Chief Pignataro arrived and assumed the command. Engine 82-2 made a response and assisted with mop up and overhaul. The response was held to units on the scene and damage was limited to the engine compartment thanks to a quick and aggressive attack by our ambulance crew.
