Lewes Fire Department hosts mutli-agency press conference - Station 1
October 14, 2008
The Lewes Fire Department hosted a multi-agency media conference Tuesday October 14th. The conference was held to review the successful recovery of three patients who went into cardiac arrest, the three events ocurred within five days of each other.
First responders played a significant role in the successful outcomes. First on scene during each of the incidents representatives from Ocean View and Delaware State Police and Lewes Fire Department initiated CPR and utilized AED's providing the extra time needed for ALS arrival and intervention.
Two of the three patients have been discharged and are home with the third expected to make a full recovery. Orginizations represented during the conference included Lewes and Millville Fire Departments, Ocean View and Delaware State Police, Sussex County EMS, and Beebe Medical Center. All representatives agreed that quick response and inter-agency teamwork were the keys to the success of each of the incidents.
Footage of the media conference can be seen at whyy.org under news videos with an article in the October 17th edition of the Cape Gazette.
