It is with our deepest and sincerest regret that the Officers and Members of the Lewes Fire Department, Inc.  announce the passing of 34-year Life Member and Fire Police Emeritus, John Burton, Sr.  John served as a Fire Police Officer for 13 years and was given Emeritus status when he retired. John was instrumental in the expansion of our department over the years, actively working on the original purchase of our Station 2 property and as Chairman of the actual building of Station 2 back in 1989. John was also on the building committee for Station 1 in 1991 and was a big part of the acquisition of the land for Station 3 in Angola.  In the past, John was active with the Delmarva Firefighters Association, the DVFA Mutual Relief Association, and always very active with the political side of our department as he had many important contacts and friends. He will be missed by all; services are scheduled for Saturday. Details will be sent when finalized, please keep the Burton family in your thoughts and prayers.
