Lewes Fire & EMS crews are some of the busiest in Sussex County. Tuesday, April 6, 2021, was even busier than normal. The first call, an EMS call, came in at around 3:30 AM. The last call, also an EMS call, came in just past 10:00 PM. Between those two calls, LFD fire & EMS crews handled 21 more calls that day. These included:
- 13 ambulance calls
- 8 fire calls
- 2 motor vehicle accidents, one of which unfortunately included a fatality and multiple other injuries
LFD handled all of them, with some help from Rehoboth Beach and Mid-Sussex EMS when we needed some extra coverage in the evening while working at the scene of the fatal accident. It was indeed a very busy day, and we couldn't do it without the dedication of our career staff and volunteers, working side-by-side, along with the support from the community we proudly serve. Some days are slow, some days not so much, but LFD will be there!
