Seatbelts Save Lives!
Wed, Feb 26, 2020

During the month of February 2020, Lewes Fire Department responded to two accidents only 5 days apart involving vehicles where occupants were not wearing seatbelts. Those occupants were critically injured or killed due to the traumatic injuries sustained as a result of not being properly restrained at the time of the accident.

LFD wants to remind everyone that seatbelts save lives! While wearing a seatbelt does not guarantee that you will survive any given accident, it does increase your odds of survival. It takes less than 10 seconds to put your seatbelt on. Taking those 10 extra seconds before you put your vehicle in motion will go a long way toward keeping you from being in the back of one of our ambulances.
