The Lewes Fire Department is please to announce the formation of the Lewes Fire Department Auxiliary. The formation of the auxiliary is long overdue and has been in the works for over a year stated Craig Stephens President of the Lewes Fire Department. They will be a great addition to the department and community. The inaugural membership some of which have been assisting in the formation of the auxiliary for over a year is eleven. With announcement that the auxiliary is now formed and active there has been a steady request for applications. Inaugural President of the auxiliary Jerri MaCoy is excited with the opportunity that the auxiliary has to assist the department. We are developing our plan of action for the remainder of the year emphasizing on increasing membership. We have a very diverse group of people who have joined with age of members running teenagers to retirees. The auxiliary is designed to allow those that don’t have an interest in active fire or emergency medical services to support the department in another capacity. Some of the different areas the auxiliary will be assisting is fundraising, website management, photography, and fire safety education. We are just getting started and are looking for new members who have the desire to support the department and community. The next scheduled meeting of the auxiliary will be November 24th 7:30pm at the main station on Savannah road.
