Member Injuried in Serious Accident - Westcoats Corner, Lewes

A 20-year-old Lewes Firefighter was seriously injured when his car collided with a dump truck Tuesday afternoon near Lewes. John "Tony" A. Pignataro an active Member of Lewes Fire Department was driving north on Wescoats Road, turning left at a traffic light onto Savannah Road. His 2007 Toyota Scion was struck on the driver's side by a dump truck. The truck was eastbound on Savannah Road. Tony was extricated from the vehicle by Lewes Fire Department and taken to Beebe Medical Center in Lewes and later flown to Christiana Hospital. The driver of the truck, was not injured. Both drivers were wearing seat belts. Tony is in the Intensive Care unit at Christiana in stable condition. Please keep him in your thoughts and prayers.
