House Fire - Lewes Crossing

On October 6, 2018, at approximately 8:55 PM, Lewes FD was dispatched to a reported house fire in the Lewes Crossing subdivision off Beaver Dam Road. Multiple calls were received from nearby residents, and responding units could see fire before their arrival. Upon arrival, heavy fire was reported from the rear of the structure. Interior and exterior hoselines were placed in service, and the fire was brought under control in approximately 30 minutes, followed by extensive overhaul. The home next door suffered exterior heat-related damage, but was otherwise not compromised. No injuries were reported. Responding units from Lewes included Engines 82-1, 82-2, 82-3, 82-5, and 82-9; Rescue 82; Command 82-8; Ambulance C-82; Brush 82-10; and Utility 82-12. Assisting Lewes were units from Rehoboth Beach (86) and Milton (85), along with Lewes Fire Police and Sussex EMS. Indian River (80) provided cover-up for Lewes at station 2.
