New Ambulance E82 In Service

On December 9, 2016, Lewes Fire Department placed in service a new 2017 Braun Type 1 Super Chief Ambulance with a 170” Module with 73” interior head room built on a  2017 Kenworth T300 conventional cab chassis, with a Cummins PACCAR PX-7 280hp diesel engine and an Allison 3000EVS Transmission.  291.5" Overall length includes extended front bumper and vertical exhaust, multiplex electrical system, Whelen LED Lighting package, Electronic Whelen 295 HFSA7 siren, dual air horns, and Q2 mechanical siren. Also includes an Air ride system with automatic lowering feature for easy patient loading. All module seats are equipped with 5-point safety harnesses.  An E-Z O2 lift is mounted on the street side first compartment door for easy bottle changes.  Other street side compartments are set up for crew firefighting PPE and SCBA.  A new feature of this ambulance is a curbside sliding side entry EZ Glide™ Door on the Module for safety.
