Saturday May 2, 2009 marked a very special 1 year anniversary for Charles Bisking Jr. He had successfully recovered from an incident when he was struck by a car while offloading from his school bus. Charles suffered significant injuries and was flown directly to Christiana Hospital due to the seriousness of his injuries.

 

Charles and his family were extremely happy of his full recovery and wanted to show their appreciation to the rescuers that responded to his accident. They contacted past Chief Bill Buckaloo who was the incident commander of Charles's accident and asked to meet department members and share in their happiness and allow Charles and family to offer their thanks in person.

 

Charles and his family arrived at Lewes station 1 to find members and a tour of the station waiting. After introductions Charles was presented with Lewes Fire Department t-shirts with his family presenting a thank you cake to the department. Next was a  tour of the station to include a slide down the fire pole guided by EMS Lieutenant Charlie Arnold. The family then received a guided tour of the Lewes Fire Departyment museum by President Craig Stephens. A ride in ladder 82 driven by past Chief Buackaloo was the highlight of the visit with Charles and his family taking a ride to Lewes beach and returning with lights and sirens.

 

The officers and members of the Lewes Fire Department are proud to be a part of the successful outcome of Charles's unfortunate accident. The appreciation shown by him and his family is greatly appreciated. We thank The Bisking family for their gratitude and wish Charles the best of luck in the future.
