LFD at the 3rd Annual “Reclaim our River” Cardboard Boat Regatta
Sat, Aug 6, 2016

Lewes Fire Department was proudly represented in the 3rd Annual “Reclaim our River” Cardboard Boat Regatta on the Nanticoke River. The “fireboat”, built in homage to LFD’s state-of-the-art Fire/Rescue boat 82-Marine 1, was constructed, painted and decorated by the Esposito family, using only recycled cardboard, contact adhesive, tape, and paint. 13 boats were entered by groups and families from around Sussex County and raced in the DNREC- and Delaware Nature Society-sponsored event. Amelia Kennedy was coxswain & encouraged the rowers (Joe Esposito & Corey Kennedy in the first heat and Anthony & Sara Esposito in the challenge race) to victory! The team took home some swagger: Pride of the Fleet (Finest Construction), Best Decorated, and Winner of the Family-category Race
