Colonial East Trailer Fire
Thu, Mar 7, 2019

At approximately 12:40 AM on Thursday, March 7, 2019, Lewes, Rehoboth Beach, and Indian River Fire Companies were dispatched to a reported trailer fire in the Colonial East subdivision. Upon arrival, Assistant Chief Buckaloo reported a trailer with heavy fire showing. Crews deployed two initial handlines, one to protect exposures and one to perform an interior attack on the fire. Dispatch advised command that there was a possibility of a subject unaccounted for in the home, and the interior attack team performed a search, but nobody was found. It was later determined that the resident was not at home at the time of the fire. Command reported the fire under control after approximately 45 minutes, followed by extensive overhaul work. All fire units cleared the scene at approximately 2:30 AM. Responding units from Lewes included Engines 82-1 and 82-9; Tanker 82-4; Command 82-8; Ambulances A-82 and C-82; and Lewes Fire Police. Units from Rehoboth Beach (86) and Indian River (80) assisted at the scene. Milton (85) covered the Lewes district, and they were also called to the scene for additional manpower. There were no injuries reported, and the incident is under investigation by the Delaware State Fire Marshal's Office.
