Brush Fire - Shingle Point Road
Fri, Mar 30, 2018

On Friday, March 30, 2018, at approximately 10:20 AM, Lewes FD was called to assist Georgetown (77) and Milton (85) fire companies with a trailer fire on Shingle Point Road.  While enroute to that fire, Sussex fire dispatch received a call for an out of control brush fire, also on Shingle Point Road.  Command 77 asked that all incoming Lewes units divert to the brush fire.

Upon arrival, Engine 82-1 found a large area of brush that was initially a "controlled burn" but had gotten out of control and was starting to spread into a tree line.  One attack line was placed in service, and crews from Engines 82-1 and 82-3 were able to contain the fire.  Tanker 82-4 also responded to the scene, as the fire location was a long distance from the main road, and there was no other water supply available.
