Lewes trains on an aquired structure on Rt. 24
Tue, Dec 27, 2016
Tuesday Dec. 27, more than 30 Lewes and other local firefighters participated in training and a controlled burn on an acquired structure. Training was related to Interior operations including; hose handling, fire attack, search and rescue, ladder placement and other aspects of firefighting that make up our job.
The burn was a rare planned activity that has been nearly two months in the works, said Lewes Fire Chief Gordon Davis. “These opportunities are some of the most valuable training opportunities for local responders.” “Many of the training evolutions conducted cannot be simulated at firefighter training centers or with firefighting training props.” Any interested property owners should contact their local fire department for details about controlled house burns.
