Lewes Units Handle Multiple Calls
Sun, Jul 19, 2015

Early Sunday morning, at 0015 hours, The Lewes Fire Department along with the Rehoboth Beach Volunteer Fire Company, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company and Sussex County EMS were alerted to a reported building fire at Capriottis Sub Shop. Engines 82-3 and 82-2 along with Ladder 82, Ambulance 82 and the chief's vehicles all made immediate responses. Engine 3 arrived to find a small fire in the kitchen and quickly extinguished it. Units secured utilities and checked for extension. While taking the opportunity to further train on locks using a door that was heavily damaged, units were again alerted to a serious motor vehicle accident at 5 points intersection on Coastal Highway. All units made a quick pick up and responded to find two vehicles with one pinned. All patients were evaluated, one extricated and two transported. Route One (Coastal Highway) was closed for roughly an hour. These calls topped off an already busy day for Lewes Volunteers, serving our community for four additional calls for service earlier in the afternoon
