On Saturday evening December 7, 2013, the Millville Fire Company held its annual Fire Company Awards Banquet. During the banquet, Current Assistant Fire Chief Wally Evans and Past Fire Chief, received the Ralph W. Burbage Award for Emergency Medical Services by EMS Chief John Watson. This award is given out annually by the Ambulance Service who best exemplifies the Selflessness, Dedication and Skills necessary to serve the community in the performance of Emergency Medical Services. Wally Evans along with a co-worker received this award after being dispatched to an EMS call. Shortly after dispatch, the call was upgraded to a CPR in progress. Wally and his co-worker arrived on scene and started CPR. After two minutes the AED advised no shock. The patient was reassessed and it was determined that the patient had regained pulses back. All this occurred prior to any paramedics arriving on scene. While the ambulance was transporting the patient to the hospital, the patient regained consciousness. The patient was released from the hospital after a brief stay. The Officers and members of the Lewes Fire Department would like to Congratulate Wally Evans on receiving his award.
