Lewes Members Conduct Marine Training with the United States Coast Guard
Mon, May 13, 2013
5 Lewes Members conducted joint Marine Operations Training with the United States Coast Guard crew from Coast Guard Station, Indian River Inlet, Delaware. The training consisted of a vessel tour of 82-Marine-1 for the USCG staff and a vessel tour of a 47' Foul Weather Boat for the Lewes Members. Following the vessel familiarization, both vessels proceeded into the Atlantic Ocean south of Indian River Inlet for vessel approach, marrying, and equipment/personnel transfer training. Numerous evolutions were conducted, with various operators of both vessels, proving that the 44' 82-Marine-1 and the 47' USCG vessel could seamlessly marry together while underway and transfer any necessary life saving equipment or personnel. The Lewes Fire Department would like to thank the crew from the USCG, Indian River for the joint training and we are looking forward to future training events.
