Under the direction of Chief Virden, the Lewes Fire Department Officers and Members have been hard at work to improve our "Combat Readiness" of all primary structural firefighting apparatus. All Lewes Rigs have received new and improved hand tools including new irons, hooks, and related equipment. All structural engines are now equipped with a pre-connected 300' 1 3/4" attack hand line on their rear steps for various uses including long stretches and multi-story apartment/condo buildings throughout the district. Ground ladders have been marked and painted for improved visibility and ease of size selection from the ladder nest in the rear of Ladder 82. All cord reels are being updated with new and improved junction boxes. The RIT equipment from 82-5 has been relocated to the cab for quick access and many new RIT components have been ordered and will be placed in service in the near future to update the gear. Thank you to all members that have been assisting with the "Rig Makeovers"!
