Lewes Members Participate with DSP Aviation/DART Training - The Lewes Great Marsh
Fri, Feb 15, 2013
On Friday February 15, 2013 @ 1000 Hrs., Lewes Members assisted DSP Aviation and Delaware Air Rescue Team Members with a short training drill in the Great Marsh north of Lewes. The training exercise was conducted to simulate an injured/ill hunter in a location of the marsh inaccessible by boat or vehicle. DSP Trooper 2 was rigged for Long Line Rescue work and a Delaware Air Rescue Team and Lewes Member (M. MacCoy) followed by a Lewes Firefighter/EMT (Shawn Evans) were individually air lifted to the location of the victim for patient care and packaging. The victim was air lifted back to the Lewes Members awaiting at the landing zone, followed by the rescuers. A debriefing was conducted following the exercise, and the outcome was positive concluding air lifting rescuers and victims to and from this or a similar location would be the best tactic for this type of rescue.
