The Lewes Fire Department discontinued 24 hour staffing at all 3 stations this morning. The stations were staffed to allow for rapid and safe response to all emergencies with all dispatches were covered. A joint Task Force consisting of representatives from the; National Guard, Delaware State Police, Del Dot, Sussex County EMS, Lewes, and Rehoboth Beach Fire Departments was implemented during the height of the storm providing a response team capable of handling any emergency that would arise.
We want to thank our emergency service partners and businesses that provided logistical support during the storm. We strongly urge the public to remain alert for any downed power lines and to contact a professional if your power was lost to ensure that there are no eltrical and or fire hazards before regaining service. You should also be aware of the possibility of standing water on roadways, soft shoulders, and structural damage to buildings. Please report any hazards that you find.
We are proud of the service we provide during these events and want express our appreciation to the members and their families that sacrificed their time and placed themselves in harms way to ensure the publics safety.
