MVC with vehicle into a structure - 1535 Savannah Road Lewes, DE

July 23, 2012 1311 hours, Station 82 was dispatched for a single car MVC at 1535 Savannah Rd with a car into an occupied building, unknown on entrapment. Saftey Officer 82-20 Henry Baynum was in the area, arrived on scene and assumed 82 command. Medical staff from the building had started patient care of the 3 patients in the vehicle. Both patients were outside of the building with 1 still in the vehicle. Command requested the Sussex County Technical Rescue Team (SCTRT) for structural stabilization. Arriving EMS units made access on East Village Drive providing them quick access to the patient and away from the structure. Engine 82-5 with 82-15 was the first arriving engine and assigned to the front of the building for interior operations. Rescue 82 was next in and assigned to assist with interior operations. Engine 82-3 was assigned to assists with EMS operations.
3 patients (2 ALS, 1 BLS) were transported to Beebe Medical Center aboard A82, C82, and D82. 82-15 reported that the interior of the structure was intact and all utilities had been secured. Command canceled the SCTRT and placed the situation under control at 1336. Units remained on scene until removal of the vehicle was completed.
