The Lewes Fire Department awarded two annual scholarships during its July meeting. The Stephen R Jones Scholarship is in memory of deceased member Steve Jones and awarded annually to a member or child of a member of the Lewes Fire Department. This years recipient is member Aiden Gause who will be attending the University of Delaware where he will be studying Natural Resource Management. The Thorton A Shipley Scholarship is named after deceased life member Thorton Shipley and is given in honor of a deceased department member annually to a graduating senior who lives within the Lewes Fire Department district. This years recipient is Erin Ricker who will be attending Lehigh University where she will be studying Engineering. Both scholarships are $1000. We wish this years recipients the best of luck in their academic endeavors.
