At 11:48 hours on Tuesday The Lewes Fire Department was dispatched to the report of a small fire in a house. 82-8 responded with 82-18. Soon after Sussex EOC advised they were recieving multiple calls on this incident and were upgrading it to a working alarm. This dispatched the Rehoboth Beach Volunteer Fire Company, Indian River Volunteer Fire Company and SCEMS medic 104. 82-8 arrived on scene to find a 2 story single family house with smoke showing from side A. Engine 82-9 arrived on scene and stretched a 1 3/4 attack line through side A. Under the direction of Captain Aiden Gause 82-9's crew found a large amount of fire in a first floor dining room with extension to the adjacent kitchen and living room. Engine 82-9's crew extinguished all fire. Engine 86-2 with Deputy 86 arrived and was assigned to ladder the building and go to division 2 to perform a search and check for fire extension. Engine 82-3's crew arrived on scene and was assigned to perform overhaul and ventilation on the fire floor. All other crews arrived and assisted with further overhaul and ventilation. Crews operated on scene for 1 hr 30 minutes.
